just worked that out
Try a swap of "im" in the right place.

Yea, pretty naughty but when antagonizing a lot, expect mud returned

Hey fair enough, I thought no harm in asking as I had knowledge of what's back there, bulk parts etc. If they'd even attempted to engage me as to why they couldn't do as I asked then I would not have posted, instead they chose to lie [in my mind anyway] and brush me off. Everyone's wired differently but when you're trying to sell a bulb for $45 and a customer asks after a better
deal you could at the very least attempt to explain the cost. I know I don't deserve mega trade rates so please stop using that example. There is retail, cash trade, then accounts in various order of discount then there is staff price.

mrfxit, Sep 6, 9:31am
Agreed, tho the managers normally have a bit of leeway as to how to apply basic discounts

91zero, Sep 6, 10:16am
There is certainly no harm in asking. Could they have handled it better? yeah probably, but pulling the "I know what is back there" line in order to obtain a discount doesn't wash.

When I was at Repco and a retail customer asked for a discount, the only time I would consider it would be if they brought in a quote from a competitor.

I too know full well what is "back there", but I certainly don't ask for a discount (or request that stock), even when I go to the store I used to work at and get served by ex-workmates. It puts them in an awkward position. I use my knowledge gained to know what a good deal is and shop around.

91zero, Sep 6, 10:19am
Correct they do, in fact most staff do and the store manager can alter the discount rate a particular staff member can apply.

But unless you bring in a competitors quote, why should they?

I'll ask you though -Why do they need to justify /explain anything ?
You aren't staff,You don't work for Repco so don't "know" whats "back there" You are only assuming nothing has changed from when you were employed there a few years ago. They said no bulk bulbs for you mr retail customer. That's the end of their need to justify. -sorry dude

I don't have a problem with Repco's customer service, however just a little "bleet" re my experience today. I need to replace my 2006 Toyota Wish car battery (it's fecked). The person I spoke to was really helpful - however quoted me approx. $196. I asked if they would take the old battery out and refit the new one - he said no. I also contacted Super Cheap Autos (more or less quoted around the same price and no they don't install either). Prior to all of this, I'd got a quote from a local auto electrical business who we've dealt with before (Taylor Auto Electrical) - new battery will be $136 - $156 (they just need to confirm model / type) and they will install for me. The Repco guy basically recommended I go with the auto electrician (they know their stuff and Repco take no responsibility for anything like this as they've stuffed up in the past).

What the hell is it with the price of car battery's?
OK, in 1994 & 1998 I paid $60 for a brand new 330CCA battery.

About $160 now.
I'm looking at having to pay $360 odd for a replacement atm for what's in my car.
And, am I wrong and do they last twice as long as they did back then. ?
I would get 3 years max outta a battery, now its 5+ expected.

Repco sell Car parts, they don't have staff on board qualified to carry out repairs nor do they have a workshop out back. Besides the fact that you'd tie up a retail staff member for 20 minutes, replacing a battery is no longer just a case of undoing a few bolts and tossing a new battery in. Done correctly, your clock and radio settings won't be deleted, if you had memory settings for seats, phones etc, they will still work and if you had a start-stop system, that will continue to work. Not quite as easy as replacing a wiper blade. Be interesting to know if you had to rest your clock afterwards.

kazbanz, Sep 7, 7:39am
Sorry I genuinely don't get your point. -Other than price
A parts retailer in any industry is just that. They sell the stuff they don't install it. -Incidently once you have had the battery changed its really likely the windows will stop working off of the master switch--its a really easy fix.

darryl, Sep 9, 5:01am
After implying he was a liar, the level of favor YOU got was reduced.

Sounds like you got your own medicine to me.

desmodave, Sep 9, 5:41am
The easy fix , is that where you simply operate every window down then up on on each individual door then the master switch will work .

clark20, Sep 9, 10:21am
All to do with the price of lead

djrandomguy, Sep 9, 10:28am
Level of favor was already at zero, as I was walking away. So if they can find a way to deliver less than zero I'll be impressed

djrandomguy, Sep 29, 8:02am
I can see both sides of this discussion for sure. When I posted i was a little hot under the collar for sure. 1 bulb ain't the end of the world. I was unimpressed with the lack of service and refusal to even take part in the 'sales dance' . I agree things may have changed 'back there' too but I would be 99% sure if johhny auto sparky walked in on a saturday, they'd get him a bulb from bulk. My request was not unreasonable and they could have politely declined, instead I was shrugged off and it annoyed me.
