Anyone else noticed Supercheap auto has raised their prices significantly in the last year?
Hub caps used to be $25 and as low as $14 on special. The same ones are now $39.99 and tyre shine used to be 2 for $5 and now $5 each etc etc.

sadmuddle, Sep 5, 10:33am
They have cover my socket set $200 off so heavy I struggle to carry it around

elect70, Sep 5, 10:53am
drama queen over a friggen light bulb Must try that at the supermarket , 'can i have some steak from out the back that isnt pre packed "

djrandomguy, Sep 5, 11:28am
Drama queen. if the bulb was a fair price, no drama, no queen. To everyone saying "oh you used to work there things change & account holders spend xyz$$$$ per year" of course I know that, i didn't expect trade price or a mega deal, I expected them to do their jobs and go look, or at least check stock on the computer, neither of which was carried out. If you don't see it on the shelf, ask them, and as for the supermarket, you can ask the butcher to go find things for you and they'll do it so again, winning example. You naysayers can type what you want, I know how the game is played and still play backyard mechanic all year round, I have friends at other suppliers and even at that branch but he was away that afternoon.
Here is a simple flow chart for future replies .
1. Did you work with me in parts for 10+ years. ? - - No go to Q.2.
2. Did you live my life or know what I know? - - No, don't pretend to know what went on then.

2sheddies, Sep 5, 11:52am
Yes, not quite as their name would suggest any more. Used to be considerably cheaper than Repco for certain parts and accessories, but now about the same, sometimes dearer.

djrandomguy, Sep 5, 11:54am
So i ask for something [not whiny] first guy says no, 2nd guy says would be same price. neither one looks at all either on computer or IRL and then I state my knowledge on what's back there and tell them of my history. The kind of people parts people rip on are the ones who throw tantrums when they fit the wrong water pump because they didn't measure the shaft height, or who buy a clutch kit in the morning then return for the slave cylinder in the afternoon because they mis-diagnosed it, or the guy who spends over an hour arguing that the CV he bought from his nephew is correct even though it isn't because his company doesn't sell [therefore list] the correct part.

All this name calling and anger because I spoke my mind. Drop into any parts // workshop my area, my time behind the counter was all good, I was the guy people asked for on the phone BECAUSE I would make the effort to look. If you told me to F**k off at your work it would be because you suck at it*, not because of my whiny attitude.
*I don't know this but since we're slinging mud I thought i'd come down to your level.

djrandomguy, Sep 5, 11:57am
also *you're

H7 bulb, $19.76 down the local Mitre 10 just now. in a blister pack ;)

franc123, Sep 5, 12:44pm
Yes. The normal retail has gone up but they seem to be having more promo's and these mega specials where there might be 50-60% off certain things, they chop and change suppliers about a lot that crowd.

thunderbolt, Sep 5, 12:48pm
1, I might have worked with you, who knows?

2, If you don't want feedback, having a crack on a social media platform like this is possibly the wrong place to do it.

If you are held in such high regard by your former peers and customers, maybe you could have taken your issue back to the manager of the branch in question. They are all very approachable people, as you should know.

Join the club yes

snoopy221, Sep 5, 3:39pm
Is this where one simply states the obvious?
Ex repco staff know which accounts have the highest volume discount.
Yeah someone like moi moit juss say *cash sale trade* (x) business use (x name) for an order number

sadmuddle, Sep 5, 4:29pm
His user name close to the mark.

friendly_prawn, Sep 5, 7:09pm
Just change the oa to an i, and you'd be right on the mark.

91zero, Sep 6, 3:14am
I'm surprised by this attitude. Their workshop customers put through thousands of $ so naturally expect to pay (much) less.

In order to be able to drop the price consistently for trade customers - on say a bulb - all the flash packaging and associated bullsh*t is dropped, so the OEM can sell it to the supplier for much less - and the supplier can then sell it to trade heavily discounted and not lose out. It's basic marketing and applies everywhere, not just at auto parts places.

I think it's plain rude to demand a bulb from "out the back" in order to obtain a deal that is in place for trade customers. The so-called "lying" is irrelevant. If a trade customer finds out Repco were to sell a trade product to retail for what they usually pay they will be p*ssed and go elsewhere.

just worked that out

dale3112, Sep 6, 8:46am
I needed a tail light bulb for my car a year or so ago, went to Repco who charge me $7.00 something and that was with about 30% off - hadnt purchased a bulb for years and years and was shocked at how much they had gone up.
When i got, home, started thinking about how dear it was, went online to the Supercheap site - same bulb, same packaging, same brand (Narva) - $4.50 normal price!
Needless to say where I shop for parts, etc now.
