If you do check filter take intrade,s advice #103. Any mobile mechanic you can call on ?.You could try -- if you havent giving it a bit of Engine Start spray.

you need a mechanic to check fuelpump. as it seems above your paygrade metaphorically speaking . you dont want fire when all it needs is a pump like this toyota https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vMoFcotbOMc

he did and it fired just like the above video. i said it has no fuel or it has the bypass ignitioni if it gets fuel. its only them 2 things and i say its fuelpump or fuilpump circuit issue. dont f. k with it if you got no clue you can damage electronics if you give power to wrong things. competent mechanic 1h charge . we cant easy get fuelpump modules like they do in usa for cheap on top.

I had driven 20 k across town, stopped to get something, wouldn't start - new battery required.

Nothing wrong with fuel pump - I can hear it running.

Ok lets just go through this 96 Holden Barina Running perfectly -Left in storage for 3 weeks Cambelt "just" changed, Engine starts very briefly (for a second or two) and then stops. BUT no evidence in U tube vid Battery is good, ---Yet is turning over very very slowly in u tube vid plenty of fuel, -Yet turning it over the new plugs are dry friend of mine cleaned the spark plugs and a distributor,- BUT original spark plugs were black and sooted up "All" fuses checked and ok--BY ALL do you mean the ones in the cabin AND under the bonnet? but still no go.

I would appreciate if a picture of the key was posted up. My gut is that the car has imobiliser chip from factory. Key isn't talking to the car so the fuel pump is off.

Doesn't mean it is pumping though.
There is an old saying though "9 out of 10 fuel problems are electrical".

Had a difficult fuel system (sp) last year with such problems but it was on a nissan micra gen 1 . much and much the same type of fuel system. It was hard to start or no start at all .did the usual ground work , went over it and decided to pull a sealed cover off the side of the throttle body there is a circuit board and resoldered all the dry joints ,resealed it. Adjusted the TPS. Pulled the Fuel pump relay ,but not the fuse, cranked it a few times then refitted the pump relay ,and cranked to go.It ran like a swiss clock. The owner had problems with the car for a long time and looked at by several people many times at different places and was told was timing issues etc and $$$$.

Volume v pressure ."I can hear the pump ticking " so it must be ok. = false assumption!

Some people think cambelt has skipped a notch (or two) so I won't touch it.
karlo,

Did I mention that on a scale from 1 to 100 my car "knowledge" is about 1.5 (and I am being generous here).
Really? Surely you jest dear Sir As to your claim Engine starts very briefly (for a second or two) and then stops. [post#1] We do NOT see this in your video [post#53]
So perhaps ALL spark plugs removed and suitably earthed and high tension leads fitted and a video showing if they actually produce spark when engine cranked or not?
what fuel did you put in last ? because my mates telstar now also wont start and i think he put G fuel 91 i was thinking the 91 was not ethanol con-terminated . i call it that i-m-o

FINAL VERDICT: Because INCORRECT new water pump was installed, cambelt skipped and prevented the car from starting. Luckily enough a catastrophic engine failure did not occur (see water pump comparison pic): https://trademe.tmcdn.co.nz/photoserver/full/1536010676.jpg

Totally different tooth profile. How on earth could that have been missed/

So who changed that waterpump and who found the problem. If i recall right i told you ages ago to check timing that was obviously not done correct to take this long to find the problem.

There was an obvious connection between the last job done and the devloped problem that several pointed out . Work that was done by an incompetent person with passion fingers it seems!

I don't agree with you. I bet it was done right at the time. -Have a look at the two water pump pictures OP posted. One has the opel half round teeth the other the traditional "square" teeth. I hate to imagine what the belt was off of.
