If its not crappy oil what do you put the negative oil pressure down to? What exactly do you mean incorrect use of oil, cheap oil of wrong grade/rating and infrequent changes maybe.Have you got firm figures on the "Ten of Millions Toyota has spent" or is this
Hearsay and Gossip.and personal experience?

toenail, Jul 18, 11:37pm
You didn't change your cabin air-filter? lol

Hybrids have improved quite a lot over the years too, the current generation when combined with the dynamic force engines gives a very smooth drive with record level fuel economy for a petrol car.

I guess if you're still wanting a hatchback even the top trim Corolla doesn't have leather seats or electic seats, which the Blade G has. The other hatchback is the Lexus UX which has cramped rear seats.

NZ doesn't offer all some of the cooler hybrids available in Japan. In Japan, they have the Camry 4WD hybrid (NZ only FWD) or the Toyota Crown Hybrid which uses the newest 3.5L Hybrid used in the $200K + Lexus LS500H and the Lexus LC500h.

Design fault and materials issue. The fix is with improved parts with different part numbers as specified in the TSBs I posted. I am not sure what you're trying to argue here when Toyota has already admitted to it.

I think the only reason why you want to debate this point is that you own 2 of cars with the said engine and it will hurt resale value.

gazzat22, Jul 19, 12:34am
Wrong again.as i said my daughter has had one for 3 years with absolutely no problems and the details you gave dont match up with the one in our family.Again I ask for documented figures of the Tens Of Millions spent and your personal ownership /experiences if any?

poppy62, Jul 19, 2:26am
Good one!

gazzat22, Jul 19, 8:46pm
You really should read the previous posts c a r e f u l l y . I dont and have never owned a Blade and havent owned a Toyota for 10 years . but their sales in NZ are their own testimony to their popularity unlike Euros.which are a subject of Hilarity particularly on this MB. Still waiting for proof of the "Tens of Millions" toyota has spent on remedying these "Faults"

Can you give a link to this with any non US manufactured Toyota's?
I understood the issue was locally supplied/manufactured components due to US Legal requirements.

gazzat22, Jul 20, 3:17am
A bit like the "Homeless Man" who had 14 days on the taxpayer at a 4-5 star hotel.!

toenail, Jul 21, 4:03am
See my post #49 with the link to Toyota.jp specifying all the in-scope chassis numbers manufactured in JP for the domestic market.

I would go for the 3.5 over the 2.4. I gave some oil to my neighbour for his Camry because it was on minimum. It was serviced by Toyota from new and only had 63 000 on the clock. It was using 1 litre per 1000km. My friend asked about the blade and I said get the 1.8 corolla or the 3.5 master G. She got the 3.5 and it goes really well (better than a Mazda 3 SP25 not as good as a Mazda 3 MPS), handles okay (not as good as a Mazda 3 sp25, which was my first choice for her). Surprisingly economical for a 3.5.

gazzat22, Jul 21, 6:21am
Just to put you straight the one and only Blade in the family is my Daughters a 2008 2.4 and the vin/chassis/engine nbrs are nothing like the ones you quote.

sw20, Jul 21, 4:51pm
As long as it’s a G spec yes. G Spec has the half leather and radar/adaptive cruise control. 2008 was the year that the vvti oil line was replaced to an all metal line rather than having metal at each end with rubber hose in between that perishes over time and will piss oil everywhere.

kazbanz, Jul 21, 8:05pm
Ive just checked back on all the bladees Ive sold. None of the numbers line up at all.

toenail, Jul 22, 7:33am
Are you using the VIN or the Jap Domestic Chassis Number? The Chassis Number should match. VIN is never used in JDM cars in Japan.

I can pick any random 2.4 Blade on Trademe with a VIN and match it to the Japanese Chassis Number.

E.g. https://www.carjam.co.nz/car/?plate=7AT0H656X20019687 Shows a Chassis number of: AZE156-1019687 Which is between AZE156-1000001 ~ AZE156-1039425 as shown in https://toyota.jp/recall/kaisyu/141126.html

Here, first example of a Toyota Zio.

https://www.carjam.co.nz/car/?plate=7AT0H64TX20037146 With Chassis: ANA10-0037146 Which is between ANA10-0001001 ~ ANA10-0041830 as shown in https://toyota.jp/recall/kaisyu/141126.html

I'll sell you mine Mals. I'm out of town for a few weeks but will be back in August.

sw20, Jul 23, 3:30am
Maybe a couple more dollars, will be less than the one you looked at though. Mine has dealer option TRD suspension, Blade rubber boot liner. Alloy Blade boot trim. Light up sill plates.

And if you use aircon, you're heavy on the accelerator, you do a lot of short trips vs long drives and so on.
Even tyre pressure can make a difference.
Not just what size engine it has.

mimik3, Jul 23, 7:23am
It is my opinion as that’s how they drive. They were renowned for exceptionally average handling. Too much weight over the front axles and shocks that I’ve way under stress. Yes it’s a Toyota, but that’s about it, never a great seller, even in Japan.
The GRMN Yaris is a much better car.

sw20, Jul 23, 8:52pm
New Yaris GT-Four is being released here later this year, pricing somewhere in the $50k region. Dealers taking deposits now.

sw20, Jul 23, 8:52pm
Probably $8500.

louise2211, Jul 23, 9:21pm
had a blade from new no problems what so ever we love it

sw20, Jul 24, 4:03am
Signature Class? They never sold them new outside of Japan. Toyota NZ bought in a handful of nearly new models in 2008 though.

toenail, Jul 24, 6:34am
Yeah Toyota needs to bring more premium cars to NZ, such as thew new Crown:

https://toyota.jp/pages/contents/request/webcatalog/crown/crown_main_202004.pdf

The top unit uses the new 3.5L V6 Hybrid (8GR-FXS), used to be only available in the Lexus LC500h. Instead all we get are mainstream cars where the interior quality is pretty average (fake leather and hard plastics in the top trims).

sw20, Jul 25, 6:12am
All good. He will pay another grand for a few kms less if he wants a black one. Otherwise the only other black Masters for sale are non G spec.

gunhand, Jul 25, 6:33am
There a black blade 9srs 3.5 with under 100k on it for under 10k in Gore at a yard. Whats a G got over it?
