Lol not far off. I dirt track so have had my share of old bangers, also keen on derbies and I always do as many races leading up to it as I can. I tinker with standalone and turbos to so I know how to blow things up.

Here is my latest motor, H22a running a big turbo. It went bang, it no go anymore. Time for a proper built motor me thinks.

Nice, perhaps try a different approach. Would be an epic paddock basher slash beach goer

extrayda, Jan 29, 4:36am
morrisman, rotaries are air cooled like VW's (and all german engines).Really, you should know that ! Best to just use some silastic on them rather than a real gasket anyway.

bigjerry, Jan 29, 4:38am
Oh fair enough then. I had visions of someone blowing up engines all over town haha

morrisman1, Jan 29, 4:43am
the offroader is gone now, more suited to a v8, or at least a 6 cylinder. the a12 just didnt have the low down to make the the most of the rest of it.

Would have been great if it didnt weigh a ton and a half!

Ive heard about a datsun 1200 left in first gear while being towed by a house bus, didnt go bang will about 80km/h which would be about 14000rpm at a guess

The word 'rebuilds' covers it.

lookoutas, Jan 29, 12:54pm
Air cooled!
Your ears need cooling.

extrayda, Jan 29, 5:08pm
:-) Maybe only the Vtec ones are air cooled.

ola_bitchola1, Jan 29, 5:14pm
i tried to blow up my mk2 escorts motor 1300cc xflow tried as i may i couldnt do it it would just get valve bounce and not rev any harder

un_known, Jan 29, 5:25pm
if theyve all been brilliant then why have u had 6!

wrong2, Jan 29, 5:31pm
not true

you were trying to say subarus are not worse than any other

mechnificent, Jan 29, 5:44pm
Cause I've been driving them for thirty years and have had two at a time on two occasions.

johnf_456, Jan 29, 5:56pm
Bollocks, so subarea's are the only cars with issues eh. Wrong again as per your name.

johnf_456, Jan 29, 5:56pm
Never said break it by over rev.

ola_bitchola1, Jan 29, 10:33pm
when you only have 4 speeds you have to try make the most of them

wrong2, Jan 29, 10:51pm
if subies are the only engine with these issues isnt the point

you jumped on subies being rubbished & then tried to make out your just an objective impartial commentator , which your follow up to my post is again not showing

johnf_456, Jan 29, 11:13pm
Okay then. Any chance of real english that is not wrong as well!

Just hard reading between the lines.

hey mate my mates nissan primera had a pod filter installed we went thru a puddle and it died turned out to have sucked in 1 litre of water and water doesnt compress it banana'd the conrods thats my guess on what happened have a look at your manufacturers waranty if under 100 000kms you are usually covered mechanically if it was a standard air box and filter hope this helps you mat cheers, ben

More common than a lot of (ignorant) people think. hit that water at 100kph & the engine will max out in a flash if your boot is into it. Car will be a bit skittery too!

sweety666, Feb 4, 1:11am
**just an update

insurance is paying to put another engine in the car :) very very happy.

and we all learned something new about cars at our place.
thanks for everyones helpfull (and not so helpfull) comments

rovercitroen, Feb 4, 1:13am
Excellent. Out of interest, who are you insured with!

sweety666, Feb 4, 1:14am
ummm we do all our insurance through AON ! pretty sure anyway.

sweety666, Feb 4, 1:22am
they said it hydrolocked (or whatever its called) and that is an accident so the insurance covers the repair. and we can choose where we want it repaired.
im very happy with the insurance! :)

bigracket, Feb 4, 1:23am
Did you ever actually find out why it happened! was it water!
