Yep, unfortunately, its sometimes, "We need to replace the ecu as part of the diagnosis" basically, its a way out if it doesnt fix the problem, check all the plugs you can, battery off 2-3 minutes, make sure that the keys off if you do have the battery back on for any reason with anything unplugged or it will flag a code in that area which may send you down the wrong track.

Update, got 2nd hand srs control unit ($100, as opposed to $1400 from dealer!) installed by local auto sparky, solved problem, light officially out and warrant signed off tomorrow, thanks for help all, good lesson here about getting 2nd opinion on things when you don't like (or trust) what you hear from the supposed expert at the dealership.at the end of the day they are there to just make money!

We're all here just to make money, at the end of the day though some of us are better at it and have a different angle.

You still paid a healthy mark up on your second hand unit, you're just happier with the result in this instance.

$100 for a 2nd hand unit I thought was very good, service manager at dealership told me I would be paying between $600 - $1000 for one (as those dodgy car wreckers were now savy to airbag issues and would try and rip me off!),cheers.
