this is not true either . contradicts what was said to me previouslyfrom those that shouldknow.

The overlap refund was calculated in cost of new licence. As found out10 minutes ago when I phoned to get new licences.
(for heavy vehicles)

petermcg, Aug 31, 1:59pm
Mine is petrol and I pay RUC

twink19, Aug 31, 3:40pm
the goverment is stealing from us again, was said that because we are driving more fuel efficent cars they are not making the same revenue, so the stick up the motorist again

shark574, Aug 31, 4:18pm
But does this still apply after 1st Sept!

markthesparky, Aug 31, 5:00pm
$300 per 1000 k's! wouldnt it be cheaper to buy some old wheels an drive the race car around< andrace off if the boyz in blue pulll you over

skygone1, Aug 31, 5:53pm
State your case in writing and send letters to John Key,Minister of Transport, your local MP, Land Transport and any one else you can think of. Bombard the shiney bottom pratts that dremt up this crap. Another poster mentioned that we should have put in submisions, we new they were going to make changes but they never let on just what they were going to do. One of my units I now have to pay for up to 56 tonne, the legal limit is 38 tonnes. A recent trip to Nelson from invercargill with a semi trailer to pick up large 4tonne machine cost $1000 RUC and $750 fuel This is nothing short of extorcion when the RUC exceeds the fuel. I believe the the operator of a heavy vehicle should be able to determin which weight band his rig can operate in, NOT SOME SHINY ASS IN BL--DY WELLINGTON

bashfulbro, Sep 1, 10:45am
Boy, the public just do not know how this is all going to impact on prices of everything. For a small 4 wheeler ,which NEVER weighs more than 3 tonnes,i have to purchase an 8 tonne sticker ( because it is capable of carrying 8 tonnes, the fact is, that it never can or will ).cost has risen overnight from $430 for 10,000 kms.to $980.
It`s time for NZers to get some guts and let these pricks know that they can`t get blood out of a stone. The French truckies know how to fix assholes like Joyce and his ilk.

mrfxit, Sep 1, 11:54am
Looking at the increases on a percentage basis & then adding up the numbers of ppl effected, it gets pretty lucrative for commercial truck ruc tax's

Add in the domestic diesel owners & thats a nice little topping on the pile of cash.
just got another 4000km's for my Surf today & thats gone from $187 to $199.
Multiply that by the totalnumbers of domestic owners

$$$$$$$$ $$$$$$$$ $$$$$$$$$ $$$$$$$$$$ $$$$$$$$$$$ $$$$$$$$ $$$$$$$$$ >>>>> >>>>>>

The Government should stop paying road workers to lean on shovels and actually do some work.

skipper42, Sep 6, 5:29am
I just bought some k's and noticed my Toyota VX Landcruiser has gone from 3 to 2 tonne.costs less.yippy :-)

smac, Sep 6, 6:07am
The thing is message boards will only ever attract those burnt, not those with a big win. The MoT still maintain that the overall RUC take will be about the same. Only time will tell I guess.

bashfulbro, Sep 6, 6:15am
I wouldn`t advertise that, it`s a mistake, that they will find eventually and you may be in for a big bill for back payments. The Landcruiser weighs more than 2 tonnes empty, and the GVM is at least 3.
I know a guy who bought one brand new, with a 2 tonne sticker, was weighed one day, 400,000 kms later, and had to pay back the difference.and that was under the old RUC system, the new one will catch it out sooner.

puddleduck00, Sep 6, 6:24am
Typical Kiwi attitude. No wonder this country has turned dogballs. People let it.

smac, Sep 6, 6:38am
Off to aussie you go then.leave this country to those that appreciate it.

Ahh crap.off to general I go.

j&cmcg, Sep 6, 6:41pm
My hilux was the same.Decrease.Rang them and found out for non commercial vehicles that this is the case. 2 - 5 ton on private use is the same cost. It just displays the lowest weight. All ok. Not gunna bite u in the ass.

nathan84, Sep 6, 7:46pm
i brought a drill from super cheap took it bake next it was fukd they said what have you done with it! i said um about 15000kms! somehthing to think about for ya hub meter

philltauranga, Sep 7, 4:31pm
Obviously you dont have anything to do with the trucking industry! Last time the government put the RUC up they didnt give any notice they just did it overnight to prevent bulk buying before the rise, so no one could alter their cartage contract $ because of no notice of the increase, most trucks throughout the country went on strike for a morning, do you remember that! The industry had to absorb the cost until contracts could be altered. What did that strike acheive! F#@K all really, they sure didnt put the RUC price back down, so if an ENTIRE industry cant change the way our government works, I would love to hear how YOU would make it happen. In the end even YOU would "suck it up and pay" because you would realise you just wasted all your time, energy and money for sweet F#@K all, but if you want to be the hero who changes the world, go ahead, we wont stop you trying.

petermcg, Sep 7, 4:37pm
Can you wind a hubmeter back with a drill.

teamgjt, Sep 7, 7:58pm
we live on a motorhome too, 4 axle curtain sider converted with slide outs 800 litres fresh water 800 waste 250 black tank, actual weight ALL UPFULLY LOADED, people and all is 15500kg but we now pay for 22ton so yeah have jumped from $150 per 1000k to $320 per 1000k, talked to my certfication guy about getting a lt 400 cert to bring our gvm down to 16 ton and it cant be done without a major mechanical change , which would involve removing an axle, or changing the brakes etc.
seems the government changed the cert guidelines in advance of the ruc changes to stop people, re registering thier vehicles with lower gvms.
when I enquired with the ltsa as to applying for a dispensation as our vehicle will never exceed 16 ton fully laden, I was informed that no measure has been allowed regarding obtaining a dispensation, and there is not a process in placeto obtain one.
unless a miracle happens we are stuck with accepting the change , there doesnt seem to be an out for this.

puddleduck00, Sep 7, 9:00pm
Amazing how powerless we as a nation feel. Perhaps you should look at what happens in other countries when $hit like this happens. The public gets behind it. You need public support. The workers of one industry can't change $hit, but a significant amount of voters can. You should never be told to "suck it up". That's a loser's attitude. Kiwis need to care more about their own kind.

scoobeey, Sep 7, 9:21pm
For Sure should have a blockade . I will b there not sure if they would like 14 ton blocking road haha

scoobeey, Sep 7, 9:24pm
thats a bugger. i am 14 ton in my motorhome . can carry 20 so stuff em will have to put another 1000 metres tng rimu in haha

ema1, Sep 8, 7:27am
Could end up occurring more frequently funnily enough!

ema1, Sep 8, 7:32am
And the GOVT still won't be "content".har har bloody har that word isn't in their vocabulary and never will be, sods. you don't hear much about poli's perks etc these days either do we! Seems like we'll end up taxed into oblivion, heck you don't need binoculars now hardly to see oblivion in the distance in this sense.
Once state owned enterprises( which we as the people of NZ we own by the way). "part % sales" are completed what are the govt going to sell next .eh!
It's almost "theft by stealth" and utter B.S. really.
Blind leading the blind in this country I'm afraid and "permission" from the people of the country is another word that isn't in the GOVT vocab either.
The poli's it would seem .are a "law unto themselves" and if referendoms (sp) being dismissed or not being recognized by GOVT's is anything to go by , being "a law unto themselves" and bugger the populace would be absolutely true.
Ah well I guess 2014 election might be interesting but I don't think there are any parties out there right now that are any better than any other to be perfectly frank!

frytime, Sep 8, 1:56pm
put hubo on other side so winds down!
