when you register the Hubometer with NZTA, they record what tires your running. Change it and its a big skate.

Motor home owners do not get stopped by the police, Just put the Hubmeter in the toolbox.

Mmmmm shouldn't be like that. Diesel's road tax is at the odometer Petrol's road tax is at the pump

That's where the new "high cube low GVM" units will pay off. I've heard rumors of a high cube type 29 that will tare under 4T and GVM under 10T. Will be interesting to see if it works out.

Never seen that done on the side of the road seen a cop licking his finger to clean off the dust on the hubo that Id peed on half an hour before he wiped the smile off my face with the ticket he gave me but at least I didnt have his piss on my lips
berg,
Aug 30, 7:18pm

why would someone drive there motorhome everyware they go, leave it parked up, buy a $600 car within 6000 ks you saveing money & that is if your getting diesel for free less K's if you have to pay for the diesel as well as RUCs

I feel for you sort of glad to be out of the industry hate being stuck in one place but better than slogging your guts out to have the government drop big piles of turd on you

the industry isn't what it used to be.

did this come into effect on August 1st !, or is it Sept. 1st !
I read that any unused licence expires 1 month after the date, but any unused milage is credited against the new licence.is that correct !

I really empathise with the OP. I just sold my 4 axle box body truck, which I bought because the 4 axles made the RUC's cheaper, then found the new RUC's were going up from $100.00 to over $300 per 1000km. Truck had a 22 tonne GVW/9760 tare and was only being used to carry a 1 tonne race car, but it was long so needed the length.

OP- Whatever you do DONT for f@%k sake listen to the ones telling you to . bend the hubo, change the tire size, put hubo in toolbox ect, or mess with the hubo in any way. If you think the CVIU havent seen it all before, and you can get away with it, then you have rocks in your head. The fines you can get for these offences will give you the sh1ts for a month. As berg said try to get it re-cret'd to a lower GVM if that dosent work suck it up and pay the extra like we all have to.

last day under old regime is tomorrow. If unused k's - manually apply for a refund.
smac,

You realise he licked his finger before wiping the hubbo right.so the only thing that got pissed on was your truck.(and your bank account)
bashfulbro,
Aug 30, 8:26pm
I have a small truck which tares at 3000kgs., has a GVM of 8 tonnes, it does not carry loads , but tows light ( under 2.5tonne trailers, not subject to RUCs). The sole reason it was purchased to do the job,was ,it tows the trailers far easier, without holding up traffic ,and without getting pushed around by the trailers, far better braking etc.in one word , Safer.and ran a 4tonne sticker. Under new system,RUCs costs will more than double, so. it will be sold, and replaced by a petrol powered ute , no RUCs at all, no guts at all either, slow as hell,i pity other motorists who are behind me on a long trip. It wont be as safe,or as quick, but it will be legal.

This applies to Heavy Diesel RUC's, light diesel vehicle RUC's don't expire.

He kept licking his finger to wipe away all the dust to be able to read the hubo id not the big numbers that spin round but if youve ever been pulled up by the god squad youd know that any way had any experiance in truck driving smac or is this one of those subjects you just know about
bmc460,

Aug 31, 5:53am
a friend got a Eaton 2 speed diff cable thing and adapted it to his truck so at a flick of a hidden switch the speedo wasn't reading and if he ever was pulled over . but I wouldn'trecomend doing anything like that its illegal
smac,
Aug 31, 6:09am
No, no, I agree, you probably have far more experience than I standing on the side of the road after being pulled over by Police. If you wanna believe anyone keeps licking the same finger after wiping road grime off a hubbo, you go right ahead.
splinter67,
Aug 31, 6:21am
So as usual you know nothing about it
smac,
Aug 31, 6:48am
Go ahead and quantify that if you like (the "as usual" bit).
lodgelocum,
Aug 31, 7:39am
Lol, but listening to Bergs advice, as you say, in the end will prob just have to suck it up and pay.
