You need a touch of reality. You are soooooo wrong.

klrider, Jan 29, 12:59pm
Good that someone pointed this out.

sr2, Jan 29, 1:14pm
Interesting that the Honda Blackbird with 10.3 would be at number 4 (ahead of the VMAX) if they were still in production.

trogedon, Jan 29, 1:26pm
Stalking me!!

russ18, Jan 29, 1:43pm
That episode is on comedy central right now.

So what.lol.
Reading this thread with a bit of interest.I like my Harley [ have owned many different bikes ] it may be a bit noisy, not to bad a reckon,it has a supertrapp fitted,my bike puts out over 100hp at the back wheel [ on the dyno ] and handles just fine.I ride big mileages,an average trip for me is about 1000mls [ 1600ks ] The thing that amuses me [ I've said this before ] when on the road [ which is most days ] i wouldn't get passed by all these fantastic fast better handling bikes twice a month, probably even less .where are they all.O that's rite I'm not going to the cafe on a Sunday ride .lol.a lot of my riding is also 2 up so my bike is perfect for the job.handles corners pretty well to .lol.PS i'm not a Harley fanatic,my last bike was a Moto Guzzi v11 Sport and have many others in my 50 years of riding .Harley are a bloody good bike noisy or not

I didn't want to reply and keep hijacking this thread but here goes: I am reading an NHRA rule book now - PSM, "Reserved for 1998 or later production stock appearing.(motor cycles) " also Suzuki & Kawasaki are allowed 101cid, 4 valve engines. The 4 valve rule has recently been changed and from this year(2013) onwards, only 2 valve engines allowed from any make.

My original post was because kwkbrk(a dragracing peer) falsely stated that HD are "shyte" and can't go fast down the 1/4 mile, quite clearly this is not the case. I firmly believe that ANY naturally aspirated vehicle, be it 2 or 4 wheel that can run in the 6 second zone at around the 200 mph mark must by default have a very good powerplant for this to even be possible. Kwbrk's firm dislike of HD prevents him from being fair in his view of their performance, so I pointed it out.

sr2, Jan 29, 6:06pm
I thought that was the point I was making! No big issue here, we may have to agree to disagree.

timmo1, Jan 29, 6:10pm
- Nope. Just after :)

sr2, Jan 29, 6:12pm
VMAX 10.11, Blackbird 10.3!

timmo1, Jan 29, 6:21pm
A tuner can extract performance out of a large capacity engine by overcoming shortfalls in the original design, this doesn't mean the engine from factory is particularly good. It's easy to make a 'big' engine, less easy to make a 'good' engine.

mazzyz, Jan 29, 7:50pm
I give up. I will refrain from stating the facts as they stand for any one to see for themselves. I get that some think there's a rule disparity, I get that some don't like HD but ALL this extra info is beside the point.

Please read this part carefully - Whether one likes HD or not - HD is entitled to be represented fairly and evenhandedly in the public domain and be given the credit it is due, not be rubbished in spite of the facts. The general public come away with a false view otherwise, which is not good.

I will say this only once more - Naturally aspirated, one can only get 6sec/200mph figures from a GOOD quality engine. Yes, I am speaking as part of a drag team that built their own engine and runs similar figures.
That's my 2 cents, now spin it how you want to.

mike1345, Jan 29, 8:40pm
Didn't HD get Porsche to design their latest engine. Cos they couldn't do it themselves.!

offrd1, Jan 29, 9:53pm
SO!

bmwnz, Jan 29, 10:02pm
Interesting thread, thanks.

There's 5 vehicle engine sounds that clash with my own idea of a 'good' sounding vehicle. They are:

Harleys
Subarus
American V8s
2 strokes
Worked rotaries.

bellky, Jan 29, 10:04pm
I think you made a mistake there^ sir. roatries is audio porn :)

bmwnz, Jan 29, 10:06pm
LOL!

I had one and loved it, but it was a new car and wasn't at all brap brap.

wellystretch, Jan 29, 10:41pm
C'mon buddy, half of those are sportsbikes, this thread is about manly bikes, let's get real here.

mantagsi, Jan 30, 12:50am
You dont mean the guy in the red sportsplane who does all the madcap dives and hooning about northeast-ish from Pukekohe! If so, we are miles away and man that plane is damned loud even that far off

nightboss, Jan 30, 3:22am
So, Mr. Wankel lover, you return, did you learn anything from your TM holiday! (ps: I was not involved - I was overseas a month ago)

sr2, Jan 30, 3:54am
LOL; great post mate! So I gather by "manly" you mean "middle aged crisis"! I'm 56 years old and my Blackbird still loves being between my legs on both highway 16 and track days! (Wish I could say the same for mrs sr2!).

nzdoug, Jan 30, 3:57am
Link 2 all
HARLEY KABOOM.
get it!!!!
no GAY STUFF !

klrider, Jan 30, 12:44pm
Weird, I see the opposite, Harley riders I know are more interested in being seen on thier bikes than actually riding thier bikes, I ws very amused at one guy who asked if I wanted to come and watch him and his mates ride under a nearby bridge, ummm, so cool, may I.

drog, Jan 30, 12:47pm
Harleys and Enfields. Right up there in the vintage stakes.

offrd1, Jan 30, 12:58pm
