Toyota Hilux Injector problems

WHAT! You mean they're not actually supposed to sound like a tractor!
Toyota managed to break one of my injectors on the last service. The service manager had a bit of a sour look on that day.

Another thought for op, for a goodwill out of warranty request at that age and mileage, probably consideration would most likely on be given to someone who had purchased the vehicle new through toyota and always had serviced by toyota dealerships. make enough noise and they may give a partial goodwill assistance. I commonly saw 50% of parts paid for on an out of warranty request. sometimes though, they just say no

a.woodrow, Feb 27, 2:06am
Lol TNZ didn't believe they were that actually that loud, till we had a tech guy come down here and drove one on a snowy day in queenstown. he was shocked by the noise. In australia problem was almost non-existent due to warmer climate. not that the knock noise did any harm, it was just a noise that "undermined consumer confidence in the product"

The fact that Toyota have produced an aftermarket upgrade filter system for these vehicleswould support the fact that there is a problem with them. These engines absolutely hate any form of contaminated fuel.I have replaced plenty of sets of injectors in these engines.

a.woodrow, Feb 27, 2:11am
It supports the fact that NZ diesel is clearly not up to snuff, the hilux is a global vehicle, not a NZ one. Run contaminated fuel through any direct injection diesel and you'll run into troubles. Its high time we upped our standards for fuel to match the rest of the (civilised) world

That is untrue, you have not met me in real life nor have you seen my ability s in person. I have explained above the situation but every time you always get the dagger in(not just in this thread). I am getting tired of it. So please cut it out before, it goes too far. Surely you have better things to do than insulting others constantly.

my mitsi triton is brilliant and half the price of a hilux. cut your loses OP and get one i say!

aaanda, Feb 27, 2:44am
If you look on the internet, why is this problem occurring not only in NZ, Who says it's a NZ fuel problem causing this, and not a toyota motor fault.
We are told that the copper seals Toyota were using in the motors are now being replaced with Aluminium and the copper seals were breaking down causing these problems with the injectors.

It's 'abilities', but judging by the comments you come up with, I don't think I need to meet you in person.

mugenb20b, Feb 27, 10:13pm
Oh, this is just great. You are now threatening me over the internet. What are you going to do! 'Caps Lock' me to death!

intrade, Feb 27, 10:49pm
back to the real problem toyota make poo diesel since 1988 onwards 1987 2.4 non turbo was the indistructable hilux on topgear. one year laterand it would have been distructed for good its a bit like mitsubishi making crap cars for ages, and now i did hear they use renault diesel on there latest mitsubishi, so it could actarly be that mitsi diesel will be more reliable then toyota now.

mugenb20b, Feb 27, 11:05pm
Nah, Toyota has made good diesels since 1988, like the 1KZ-TE, L series and C series. Like any diesel, as long as they aren't cooked, they'll just keep going.

johnf_456, Feb 28, 12:22am
Not at all, I am just asking you to kindly stop it. There is no need just to have a go constant for no reason just because you have decided I don't know anything. Move on.

aaanda, Feb 28, 1:26am
C'mon boys.Lady in distress here with the Lux.! looking for as much info that I can go back to Toyota with!

kwaka5, Feb 28, 2:01am
wait for your clutch and rack and pinion steering to pack up too. That'll make your day

wasser61, Feb 28, 2:05am
From what I have read there is a known issue with the injectors. And I think you will be pushing brown stuff up hill with a toothpick to get Toyota to come to the party.
In saying that I have just picked up my Hilux as my company vehicle. I did want the new Ranger but the money people said no. sigh

aaanda, Feb 28, 2:11am
Clutch been done (120k) and bearing in the diff too! (90K)
Not looking too good for Toyota is it!

gadgit3, Feb 28, 3:08am
If your problem is carbon blocking oil pump pick up due to lack of injector seat replacement at 45km service interval then your problem is not with Toyota NZ it is with your service agent not doing the service correct.
It's not an injector fault. and it's not the fault of the manufacture when the service is not carried out correct.
Just go back to the service agent and question why they didn't check the valve clearances at the 45-90km services!

gadgit3, Feb 28, 3:13am
Untrue
There was always a requirement to check valve clearances at 45km on 05 onward and the service requirements sheet was released to Toyota dealers at the time of the 05 release as well as CD and online manuals.

aaanda, Feb 28, 2:10pm
According to Toyotas service sheet, they checked the valve clearances at 99,000kms.

Go the hilux, sounds like a load of overpriced shite to the owner of a 21 year old Terrano that has obviously been able to deal with poor fuel all these years and 300000 kms. Pathetic in my opinion.

a.woodrow, Feb 28, 5:03pm
Have you always serviced through toyota! and did you purchase new!
these are your best chances to get a goodwill contribution to your repairs. also, you would be expected to get it repaired at a toyota dealership. At 50,000km over the warranty km's and a couple of years by time, they won't see an obligation to assist in what would be considered a lack of maintenance/poor fuel scenario.

a.woodrow, Feb 28, 5:04pm
Your terrano isn't direct injection, so you aren't comparing apples with apples.

serf407, Feb 28, 6:19pm
I think it is a valid comparison - old reliable diesel tech vs modern overly complex with suspect reliability and excessive maintenance costs diesel tech.
