Go with a MY2010 or later VE SV6 with the 210kW SIDI engine if you can. Much better on gas with SIDI technology.

If you are concerned about petrol costs. Then a Holden Commodore is not the car for you.

V8 and V6 Aussie built Holdens are gas guzzlers. That is a big part of why the Holden part of GM is only hanging in by a thread.

I reckon the disgusting build quality will be the main killer for Holden in the long run though.

V6 aren't actually all that bad, particulary on the open road.

roxy244, Oct 15, 6:46am
my v6 is quite good on the fuel

splinter67, Oct 15, 6:48am
The V8s arnt that bad either

splinter67, Oct 15, 6:49am
Another upset ford supporter

grangies, Oct 15, 6:50am
Why not keep it then.!

A newer Commodore wont be anything fancier.

It may look a wee bit different is all.

roxy244, Oct 15, 6:51am
splinter how many k's per 100k 13.9 where v6 are 11.2Km i think

paulap, Oct 15, 6:51am
My VZ has cost me a small fortune in maintenance and the plastic crap inside it is just falling apart.I can't believe you would still pay $13000 for one. Unless it is very special.

mugenb20b, Oct 15, 6:52am
Technically, a race car with a Holden sticker won the race.

a.woodrow, Oct 15, 6:53am
not on the open road, they are a little heavy round town, but c'mon they are v8's!

paulap, Oct 15, 6:53am
Yip thats about right

grangies, Oct 15, 6:55am
Ahhhh Wrong sorry.

I consider both Aussie Holdens and Fords as rubbish.

They serve a market purpose though. Which is cheap affordable new cars.

They are sold cheap when new for a reason. Similar to Korean and USA built cars.

splinter67, Oct 15, 6:57am
Never done the test accuratelybut around 14 dont ask about around town and its way better than a big block chev

roxy244, Oct 15, 6:59am
my vt needs panelbeating and a respray, the seats need to be repaired, power steering pump, is going to need replacing soon, rotors need doing etc

splinter67, Oct 15, 7:00am
next year maybe but this year its still a holden

thejazzpianoma, Oct 15, 7:01am
Don't actually have any of those, I just drive one for the pleasure of it.

paulap, Oct 15, 7:03am
My vz bonnet has already had to be resprayed because of stone chips and with the shit thin layer of paint on it it was rusting in spots.Seat fabric is stretched badly and worn. Brake rotors need replacing. Could list all the repairs I have done on it over the last year but would be too long.about $2000 worth.

Better the devil you know than the devil you don't. Especially if you are going to finance a $13000 car.

roxy244, Oct 15, 7:07am
thanks paulap, thats interesting

paulap, Oct 15, 7:08am
I have had my VZ for 4 years. I have all the reciepts for it and it has been pretty costly. So I am stuck with it.lol

roxy244, Oct 15, 7:11am
any engine repairs!

paulap, Oct 15, 7:27am
Nothing major. Just usual stuff that can wear out really. And the odd bit of trouble with sensors and having to get some replaced.

gunhand, Oct 15, 7:34am
How many KMs on it! if has only 60,000kms Id say thats bad but if its got 300,000kms well its excpected.

chebry, Oct 15, 7:36am
Toymota kool aide much

chebry, Oct 15, 7:43am
Actually its a lot different its a completely different motor car but of course to the great unwashed and their facsination with japcrap I guess they look similar. I got 7.5L/100km out of a 2006 alloytech Holden avge speed 120kmh so they arent bad on gas if you can drive.
