2007 Honda Jazz Sport 1.5 CVT gets 5.8L/100km (best I have had it) 640km off a tank this week.
1999 Toyota Vitz 1.0 gets between 5 and 5.5 litres/100km

Now, read and reply to OP's title, OK!

Well mine is great - 2002 3 litre V6 manual.

I just did a trip to Chch from Nelson and averaged 9.2 litres/ 100km, (and I wasn't dawdling!)
Around a city like Auckland = 10.2 litres/ 100km

Average since I bought it = 9.6 litres/100km.

'97 Honda Civic 1.6, 6.83l/100Km average town driving, I would say I have a relaxed driving style.

I usually fill up when the fuel light comes on (45l tank, light means 6-7l left) and that gets me about 550Km.

05 BF Fairmont Ghia 6 speed auto, 60L tank, 8.2 L/100K open road, 12 L/100K town driving, air con always on, weekly usage is irrelevant as I only do around 4000 K per year, the advantage of being able to walk to and from work

5.7 litre Holden, spend anywhere from $100 per week to 3 times that depending on where and how I drive it. Around town its a shocker @ a minimum of 13litres per 100km but open road it can be as good as 10 litres per 100km. Really giving it death it has hit pretty much a litre a Km. though that is going rather fast (104kph of course).

wasser61, Apr 5, 10:39am
104kph. you bloody hoon.

Own a Ba Falcon, AU Wagon, VG valiant. None are great on fuel but are good solid cars to drive. I have given up on caring about fuel cost. I got to get around. I need a good car to tow cherry picker. And I want a grunty car for everyday use.

1989 Honda Shuttle [ over 300,000k now ] 7Lper 100km

Have a 2005 ba falcon and a 93 telstar hardly use the falcon only on trips or towing the c/van ang get about 9.5 L/100ks on trips. The telstar is the town runner not great on gas but have 2 teenagers learning to drive so just have to live with it.

The reply is in there. somewhere. (I have listed several of my cars and their economy).
Actually there are reply's to the original title, another post by the OP and the discussion in the posts about whether its worthwhile changing the car to achieve better fuel economy.
There is also a lot of relevant information about stuff the OP has not realised they should ask about (like the assumption that a smaller car is more economical).
Its probably in the wrong order to just read the original post and then jump to mine but read as a logical progression in the context of the other posts it hopefully makes more sense.
Thanks for caring so much about my posts!

I put about the same amount in my 1965 Vauxhall Viva HA about 12 months ago and still have 1/4 left lol.

pebbles61, Apr 5, 9:32pm
Around 300km a week, $35ish not too flash but I can't complain.

tuttyclan, Apr 5, 9:40pm
I used to have a '97 Civic LXi Manual that used the same amount of fuel as yours. They are good comfortable for around town and open road.Mine used to only rev at 2700 RPM at 100 km/h.I did a four week trip (6,500km) around the South Island.I only sold it because it was a 3 door hatchback and I needed a 4 door so moved up to a '97 Accord Vti Auto.As much as I love my Accord I miss the economy of the Civic,Accord uses 10 litres per 100 around town (bit thirsty) and 6 to 7 litres on the open road(not too bad for a bigger car) and 2300 RPM at 100 km/h.One day I will get another Civic manual.

Honda S2000, mixed driving, 9l/100km (averaged over 9000k)
91 or 96/98 makes no diff to the economy.

That's right. However it makes a difference to the pocket!

2.7 Turbo audi allroad, 13-15L/100km in town, 10.5-18L/100 km open road depending on how big i want my smile to be.

batman4321, Apr 6, 8:29am
That's because it is! I use to drive a Nissan Bluebird 1987 2.0 Litre and it costed $60-70 full tank fortnightly. My camry V6 is $100-110 fortnightly for full tank. The bluebird got me around everywhere, same as the camry, How can you say a smaller car isn't economical, in comparison, when it is!! I know petrol prices are different etc, but it was waaaay cheaper car to run!

1995 Hilux 2.8 diesel 4wd 9.5-12.5L/100km
1994 Hilux 2wd 2.4 petrol 10L/100km
Worst in the 4wd was when towing a trailer with a Toyota Surf on it. Best when driving real slow. I drive 26km to and from work every day and half of that is on windy metal roads.
