Ureal how no mechanics checked the fuel pump in the start of it! Seems simple since subaru fuel pumps from what i have seen seem to die out. Good on ya hijacka!

Dunno if it was checked properly, wouldnt go back to AVR in ashburton though, and they have an ad on here, missed the fuel pump issue and didnt do clutch properly. not happy.
Agree unreal, 3 different places, none of them got it and it takes hijacka 5 mins to diagnose, give or take. Top man, should have his own garage.
On another note, hijacka if your importing those fuel pumps, i have a mate with a tuned SR20DET that is after one :)

so
new fuel pump, and plugs helped, but it wasnt the fix.
Found that boost control solenoid was wrong. Guy in ashvegas installed a 16102AA360, but it should be a 16102aa160.
Dont suppose anyone has a known working 160 they could lend me and ill buy if it works!
tried a tap, that eliminated the flatspot, but, hit boost cut, cause as it was explained to me, taps will spike in higher gears and there shit.
Either that or anyone got an electronic boost controller for sale!

Did you pay for the rotorua solinoid or was that previous owner! If not ring him up and explain he installed wrong solinoid. Might chuck you a new one if ya lucky

Rotorua! wtf! that was me, tried that, he reckons boost will spike regardless of solenoid. Its going to rapid performance in timaru in 2 weeks, they reckon they can fix it simple as. who knows, if not im going to set it on fire.

Don't really see the need to take it to someone else as we narrowed the issue down. To be honset there is or was quite afew issues with the car but malaysian built cars don't come with a high standard of build either. First off the fuel pump issue and the size of it is obvious that it was well under rated for your car. I felt a big difference from driving it before and after but you noticed a flat spot around 3000rpm that i didn't pickup on so we replaced the iriway7 spark plugs as they are incorrect with pfr6g plugs last night gap to .7mm to see if this would change the slight flat spot it had at 3000rpm it didn't eleminate this issue but it was more responsive and now idles like it should as before it was jumpy on idle and hesitant . So with the problem of the flat spot at around 3000rpm still being there i replaced the boost solenoid with the original one and made no difference. so when then went back and i installed a boost tap, (MBC) It solved the flat spot problem! and the car runs as it should now. Don't get why do you need to take it to another place of repair! Thanks for your kind words Jason! pc_evo is a genuine good bugger and is getting it in the ear from the misses because of the amount the car has cost him in repair. I thought i had it fixed with pump replaced, it was a problem but wasn't the issue pc_evo ear was looking out for but we got there in the end. It cost him 200 for the pump nothing for the secondhand plugs and boost tap and $100 in labour which i gave 20 of that to the kids next door to wash the car lol.

Im not having a go at hijacka, only reason i might take it to rapid is, 1 they have a dyno, 2 they have EBC's there, and can set it all up for me, so that i can continue being a n00b idiot that i obviously am (thats a dig at me, not at you). I am very appreciative of the work he has done, the problem, as is highlighted is the mrs in my ear. So i figure, kill 2 birds one stone and give it to rapid, who can quick test (not like us 20 mins or more to get to higher speed zone), and install and setup an ebc while its there, problem solved, she'll hopefully get off my back, i wont have to spend any more.
Im still under consideration though. I looked at the one on ebay, but second hand. The problem is what is creating the spike for a start!
Hijacka, which EBC did you recommend! if i was gonna get one, id really want one that took the cut out of the computer, so then i could go to 15psi (whats a good boost level!) apparently the wrx standard is 13.5.
When i took it to rapid they also laughed at me that we hadnt set it with a boost guage to know exactly what its doing. I also hear that if you set it for 5th gear so doesnt spike, your loosing boost lower down, which isnt really what im after.
Edit, id also like to add that hijacka is a top man and im highly appreciative of all the time and effort put in.:)
