Please do ua ALL a favour here-K
SIMPLE.
Drop ya airflow meter out.
Try to start it.
Than connect black and ignition on ONLY no start and see if it codes.
K.
NOTE. Have had ONE crook Subby comp.
-Money was on knock sensor- could also be crook comp.
Also curious as to EXACTLY WHEN boost drop-power loss fault developed=\
Was it about the time of rocker cover gaskets being replaced!

pc_evo, Aug 14, 2:55am
K done one better, pulled the AFM off while going, stall. Check light went on, even when i plugged it in and started it.

BUT, didnt flash me a code, or, i had the wrong connectors hooked up (but there was only one black set there, one black, one green looked the same, i connected BLACK TO BLACK), also, turned on and off a few times after this, CEL gone. but when i took it to armstrongs, sure enough the code was logged. They then cleared it.

The boost was doing funny things before the rocker covers were done, so the control solenoid was replaced, basically before it was up down up down up down up down, unstable, i was told due to the solenoid not re-sealing istelf properly.

But this problem, has developed since, but i have no way of telling if it has anything to do with the cover replacement.

I also thought possibly crook ECU, but armstrongs say they cant see anything wrong. I can get them to get it to code there and do the code flash test to see if it shows them a code. I did mention that i did the MAF to make it throw a code but the light came on but didnt flash for me, the tester did say that was odd.

Whats a new ECU worth! Or could the old one be flashed!

Still reckon it will be fuel pump spark plug combination.

The AFM don't usually throw the fault code. Usually fluctuating idle points towards afm/idle control valve/ air leak after afm. The fluctuating won't be fuel pressure issue just so thats clear. was the afm replaced with a new one or secondhand unit!Whats the part number on it! how is the under manifold plastic intake! quite common for them to split at the turbo end

pc_evo, Aug 14, 4:08am
Ok. Replaced with a second hand one. Exactly the same part numbers, i checked them twice. (tuner / mechanic / whatever checked for lean after, it was not). Not 100% sure on the under the manifold plastic intake (under the manifold!, its on top isnt it!). goes off to look, and get part number

pc_evo, Aug 14, 4:20am
K
So went and checked the intake, seems to be sound, doesnt appear to have any cracks, etc. AFM, took a photo, the exact numbers on it are :
22680AA310
197400-2090
Denso

at the bottom it has 07G21 < this was the only number different from the original but we assumed it was a manufacturing number, correct!

Id like to add, i dont think my idle fluctuates

pc_evo, Aug 14, 4:41am
please remember code was only there cause I disconnected afm while car was idling to check it stalled. code did not return

hijacka, Aug 14, 4:53am
Ok i thought you said it was in previous post.

pc_evo, Aug 14, 4:55am
na I was referring to the bottom of filter box was cracked but I replaced. haven't had idle fluctuation that I noticed.

plugs and fuel pump!pmd you on club sub

Just a thought. Ive had this happen to me in the past

Check your wastegate actuator, grab on to the rod coming out of it and see how firm it is, if you are able to move it easily then the spring in it may have gone soft or broken and the actuator needs replacing.

If its firm ( will need a good tug to move it) then ignore me. Should movebetween 10 and 20mm towards the back of the car.

Another possibility is the exhaust housing on the turbo is cracked and leaking or the wastegate flap isnt sealing properly, but this tends to make them real lazy to come on boost rather than loose boost and never regain it

pc_evo, Aug 14, 5:26am
K, the guy who had it in ashburton checked the wastegate thouroughly and said it was fine.

Dunno bout the second one, it doesnt seem lazy though, its more the car is lazy all round, which leads me to think fuel. Then when it hits boost, draws all the fuel, therefor dropping the boost, letting hte fuel catch up and then doing it again. thats just my theory though

I still reckon plugs too

supernova2, Aug 14, 6:45am
So put some plugs in the blasted thing if you think thats the problem. You must have changed every other thing yet the simple things have been left till last.

pc_evo, Aug 17, 8:53pm
A big thanks to Hijacka for finally fixing the problem :)

bellky, Aug 17, 8:54pm
Which was what.

splinter67, Aug 17, 8:59pm
Dont explain it to dud he wont understand it anyway

bellky, Aug 17, 9:03pm
Oh I see, so three pages of junk then.

pc_evo, Aug 17, 9:03pm
Yeah hi saw him trolling the other pages, belky, your a fukwit, if i get banned, boo hoo, go on tell me not to swear.

Anyway, if anyone cares, it was the fuel pump.

It was diagnsed by, turn key to on, hear pump prime, dont start car, turn key off, pump primes again (shouldnt do that) hijacka swapped for his high performance one, reckons it runs like a new car (im going to pick it up sunday as he's in chch and im in temuka), he also checked my plugs while i was there, and fixed up my clutch that a professional put in but f**Ked up.

If hijacka ever does set up a garage i would promote him to all sooby persons :)

bellky, Aug 17, 9:05pm
Don't swear thanks.

pc_evo, Aug 17, 9:06pm
belky, whats your address, since your so net tough, we can have a beer

bellky, Aug 17, 9:07pm
Dream on.

bellky, Aug 17, 9:08pm
Just stick to your suby. lol.

bellky, Aug 17, 9:12pm
Ya ya ya, you own and drive a suby pc_evo.

splinter67, Aug 17, 9:12pm
Good on ya Hijacker good to see people on here being helpful not like some others and dud his sub would waste your brap brap and your falcon with a trim package

pc_evo, Aug 17, 9:15pm
honestly belky, i dont wanna beat you up, i wanna have a beer with you to see if your such a knob in real life, or if you just have hyperactive keyboard syndrome

bellky, Aug 17, 9:16pm
Like I said, dream on. Just concentrate on your suby.

pc_evo, Aug 18, 12:59am
Belky moaned to trademe, what i said is true, this proves it. that is all
