SINGLE turbo'd WRX, STANDARD, and STANDARD BOV : Yip-actually thought it would be. Ole Pete-(NZTOOLS) knows em pretty well tooo mate-and his comments on a knock sensor i'd take to heart. K Extension and 1/4 drive socket and universal and they aren't hard to replace. (But they can be tight suckers-be aware-K)

Take intercooler off, 95 not the ultimate but will be fine on a stock rex. Do the knock sensor mate.

Had the same problem on my Volvo T5. Changed cap and rotor and new plugs and leads and the problem went away. Crappy cap and rotor was tha main culprit.

Yeap been trying there, but to be honest getting more help here, clubsub just goes dry. found good instructions to get intercooler off.

Try knock sensor first as plugs are a bit of a mission, especially for new sub owners. In short, replace knock sensor, leave plugs for now.

TBH, I dont know off the top of my head which plug is best.You can usually hear DET, it comes in different sounds but most noticably it sounds like "pinking". Nuts and bolts rattling around in the engine or coffee beans in a tin can LOL

knock sensor will tard timing and cut boost. old subaru will not throw a fault code if sensor is out of range only if resistance is incorrect. i have not read the thread but subs are sensitive to spark plugs wear/fouling/type

definately replace the knock sensor (it's cheap sodont even waste your time testing it), and definately replace the plugs. I cant remember off the top of my head which it is, but PFR7's sound right. Remove the battery, washer bottle and airbox, and make sure you have the right length extension, and plug chasnges are pretty easy, despite what some haters might say
As for someone who mentioned detonation above, No, you cant hear it. Pinking is a different animal, and relatively harmless. Detonation eats holes in pistons and is a silent killer.
